SB Member Aguirre passes a resolution for the Boracay Hospital expansion

Malay SB Member Rowen Aguirre has passed a resolution for the expansion project of Boracay Hospital.

The resolution is to request DOH Secretary Enrique Ona to fast track the project before the APEC 2015 hosting of Boracay.

Aguirre observed the slow construction of the project stressing that this will affect the community in the island who cannot afford for private clinics.

The P40 million-Boracay Hospital Expansion project is currently on its phase 1, with 2 and 3 phases more before completion.

Mango trees at the provincial hospital cut down for development

A century – old mango trees at the provincial hospital needs to be cut down for development.

During the 3oth SP Regular Session yesterday, Aklan Provincial Governor Joeben Miraflores passed an urgent request to the provincial council that it needs to be put on view for immediate actions.

Meanwhile, a members of the council agreed that it will be initially deferred to the committee of environmental protection.

However, SP noted the letter that “trees should not be an obstacle to development and thus, mango trees at the provincial hospital needs to be chopped by developers to make way for new construction.”

SB Malay hopes to find more employees in Engineering Office

Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Malay has previously taken part on matters in relation to additional employees for Engineering Office.

Building on the success of constructions in the municipality of Malay and the island of Boracay, the municipal council plans to participate and take action in both the onsite of more than 81 households and establishments without corresponding permit from the LGU Malay.

Municipal Engineer OIC Arnold Solano said during the SB Regular Session yesterday that, “they cannot really monitor the various building constructions within the municipality because of its few employees.”

Meanwhile, regardless of this problem, Solano added that they had their continuous operation to monitor buildings or homes if has or without permits from their office.

DOT conducts Accreditation Information Drive in Boracay

To enhance the standard and quality of services of every tourism establishments in a world-class level.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) recently conducts an accreditation information drive in Boracay Island.

In this regard, DOT Boracay Tourism Sub-Office Assistant Leo Kristoffer Velete shares the importance of accreditation to various establishments especially in Boracay.

Velete stressed that, “Accreditation is one of the main engines of the department to raise world-class standards on services, amenities and quality front liners.”

Meanwhile, DOT also educates tourism establishments on the basic process of online accreditation and informs them on the benefits and incentives of accreditation.

On the other hand, DOT Region VI is one of the regions in the country that has the most accreditable TOEs and TREs.

"Opening Salvo" for Ati-Atihan Festival 2015, on October 24

"Opening Salvo" for the Ati-Atihan Festival 2015 will be held next month, Oct. 24.

Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-Atihan Foundation, Inc. (KASAFI) report states that, “Sadsad, Tamboe Salvo” opening program will be held at Kalibo Pastrana Park and will start after the mass offering at Saint John the Baptist Cathedral around three in the afternoon.

The sneak peak of the events will never be complete without the merry-making, partying and fun later in the evening.

Aside from the intense street dancing and beating of drums of Ati-Atihan groups to signal the start of Kalibo Ati-Atihan fever, at Kalibo Magsaysay Park, the opening salvo will feature Iloilo's local reggae band Bahaghari. Adding glamour and delight is the neon foam party featuring the coolest disk jockeys from Iloilo, Manila and Kalibo.

The Ati-Atihan opening salvo is a prelude of a week-long, colorful celebration of the Mother of All Philippine Festivals from January 9 to 18, 2015.

Meanwhile,  Ati-Atihan on January is a religious and cultural festival held in honour of Senor Sto. NiƱo de Kalibo.

Korean Tourists ranked number 1 in Boracay Island

The Malay Municipal Tourism Office (Mtour) recently confirmed Koreans as the No. 1 tourists in Boracay.

According to Mtour 24, 990 Korean tourists were recorded for the month of July and more than 26, 000 in the month of August respectively.

Second to the list are the Chinese followed by Taiwanese and other tourists from Malaysia, UAE and USA.

Meanwhile, Department of Tourism (DOT) is optimistic in reaching the 1.5 million tourists arrival for this year 2014.
